Altitude0 crashing on start?

I opened this topic to ask if any of you had problems starting Altitude0 and game immediately crashing.
A recent Steam player cannot even start the game. It looks like a game stopping problem / bug and for that reason important.

We are not sure yet what it is, it looks like something related to custom Windows theme settings (Window look)? Anyone having similar problems with their computer or settings?

EDIT: It looks like this problem was fixed in the latest update (thanks to @jim688 for reporting it).

I have tried to open to game via the desktop, start menu and steam shortcuts and even the directory executable file with no luck at all. Game crashes on startup, no load screens, nothing at all. Have tried changing theme back to windows 7 basic, this did not work either.

Really looking forward to the final version though once these issues have been worked through.

Anyone else had similar dramas?

Thanks for posting your problem here. I checked your recent bug reports, crashing is happening in the same place, still related to uxtheme.dll.
I'm guessing this is part of default Windows themes. Did you ever install any utility related to Windows themes? It could be already uninstalled but still lingering around in the system.

Edit: In any case we will try reproducing your problem in the following days. That is why I'm asking about other installed software because it looks like some clashing could be happening (any extra firewall or desktop theme tools).

Otherwise anyone else experienced no starting scenario?

Hi, I noticed crashing I think related to trying to run the game on my previous - older computer. Game window showed up and then game crashed. Then I remembered that in the past game would refuse to run on that computer (I think it has AMD card that is too old). Current version doesn't warn me - it just crashes, so maybe this should show some message.
This is probably not the same problem though.

It looks like we managed to fix the problem brought up by @jim688. Today we will update the game.
@taki we will also add message to report when graphics card is too old.

Hi, I just tried to play the game today and I made it to the menu, but when I tried to play the game crashed. I tried 4-5 times I believe, same results. I don't know my computer specs other than windows 8 with pretty much all defaults.

Hi Ben, I'm guessing your Steam profile name is 'JWonderKitteh'. I checked 2 crash reports for this Steam profile.
I noticed crashing is most likely related to Intel graphics card and graphics settings.
Can you please try changing one setting with notepad for Altitude0.

Open file 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Altitude0\misc\gameSettings.config' in notepad.

Check the first line in this file it should be:
renderer:0

Change it to 'renderer:1' and save the file.
This will change your main graphics settings to use DirectX9 and not DirectX11. There are some problems reported online with different games and Intel graphics card.
Start the game again and let me know if it still crashes.

Hi, does the game crash immediately at the start, how does it crash, any message?
Also you are playing Steam version, correct?
