It's been a week since we added ingame plane items: skins & stickers. Plane items are still under development and this feature will grow in the future. We started with cosmetic items but performance items are still coming. The main purpose is to keep game interesting for a lot longer as we add more customizations and eventually allow players to join in by creating their own items.
Performance items are not yet in because we are still testing them and making sure we find good specs and balance for them and how they will affect flying.
If you check garage you can see some plane parameters that will be affected: engine tunes (engines, exhaust, boost), body tunes (new propellers, spoilers, stabilizers) and more. These parts will have pros and cons, player should find their favorite configurations. Do you prefer a faster plane or more agile one, better acceleration or stability? Altitude0 is an arcade game and the main purpose of this feature is to give players new ways to enjoy it. Some things will be exaggerated but we will gladly listen to suggestions regarding adjustments.
Cosmetic items currently include skins and stickers. More are coming like colored smoke, different types of lights and more.
When it comes to receiving these parts there will be 2 ways to get them. One is by playing well - collecting achievements and medals and the other way is just by playing enough.
The idea from game Counter Strike is to reward players who stick around with cosmetic gifts and we think this fits Altitude0 game also. Although on a smaller scale but it's a great way to encourage players to join limited time events and sessions. Currently we are giving away Halloween skin and stickers this way for a couple more days.
After each race there is a chance to get one of these items. Better position means bigger chance but this is still quite random. Every week you can receive approximately 4 items (maybe even more) depending on your playtime. These weekly random counters are reset just like in Counter Strike at the start of every Thursday - no reason to change what already works.
Plane customizations and competitive multiplayer (that is still coming) should be a perfect fit for each other.
And then Altitude0 should be ready for some real competitive air-racing experience.
